Types of Beer for Corporate Cocktail Party

One of the most popular alcoholic drinks is beer, and beer is made up of water, malted barley, hops and yeast. In a corporate cocktail party, beer is one of the alcoholic drinks that are usually served for men. There are hundreds of different types of beer and it has three categories.

1. Ale – this is the kind of beer that is brewed by rapid fermentation. Ale usually has a high alcoholic content. Examples of ale are barley wine, pale ale and Scottish ale. The barley wine is a kind of ale that has alcohol content that is equal to other wines. Barley wine can be stored in a long period of time. There are two types of pale ale: the American and Indian ale. The Pale Indian Ale usually has stronger alcohol content than the American Pale Ale. On the other hand, the taste of Scottish ale is nearly close to American Pale Ale.

2. Lager – a German type of beer that is light in color and has a small amount of hops. Example of lager are pilsner, bock and dunkel. The pilsner is the very first light colored beer and most popular style of beer that originated in Plzen, Czechoslovakia. The bock beer has enough amount of bitterness unlike the other kinds of beer. The dunkel is usually known as a German dark beer. The bitterness of this beer is the result of the roasted barley.

3. Specialty beers – a type of beer that contains other ingredients. It is either ale or lager that has additional ingredients. Examples of specialty beers are fruit or vegetable beer, smoked beer and herb or spiced beer. Smoked beer is very popular in Germany. The fruit or vegetable beer started in America. It is a kind of beer that has fruit extracts or syrups. Herb and spice beer is very similar to a fruit beer that is considered a new trend in America.
